TopTen 1.0 LUA 5.1x [Strict][API 2]

 Sorry to bother! I installed the script and in ptokax when i try to start it by clicking on the box it says
[02:21] Syntax ...Test\scripts\TopTen 1.0 LUA 5.1x [Strict][API 2].lua:46: attempt to index global 'Core' (a nil value)
 
 Probably I am doing something wrong! Do you have any idea what could I have done wrong?

There is no call for Core there or anywhere near that line.

I Didnt get that! Probably made something wrong! What could i tell you to give you more info?
All scripts are disabled! I try to check this one on ptokax (if am doing it wrong i appologize) and is says on the message bar exacly that!

PS: I removed every script copy paste the code exacly as it is in the box in ptokax/scripts menu and when i check the box i got the same error!

I don't know what to tell you.
There is no call to Core until:

• Line 81 in v1.0
• Line 84 in v1.0b

What I can say is this, it is best to use a text editor
when working with scripts. Fetching a specific line of
text will be just one of the many features available.
Certainly you are entitled to change the options
within a script. If you remove lines [especially the
notes] you create an offset in line count. Yet more
importantly you are in breach of both the license
agreement and general ethics. At any rate if you
cause an offset you will need to post the line(s) of
your local file as referenced in the error returned
from PtokaX. If you are breaking the license agreement,
post what you will yet expect no support from me

Still a pretty useful script, and now that ADCH++ has a ptokax bridge, I suspect that interest in these kinds of scripts will reawaken.

I'm running 1.0b, there seems to be a small bug in the Clear->AllStats command in that it lists AllStats but doesn't clear them.

Also, the output shows the bot on every other line, but that could be a problem of the ptokax bridge:

This was not written for ADCH++. There will be no support for scripts used in ADCH++.
Using these (MY) scripts in another hub soft is a breach of the software license.
My script efforts may be open source but they are NOT public domain.

If is working correctly in PtokaX and incorrectly in that bridge then it is bridge bug and you should report it to that bridge developer

Woa, woa... hold your horses. I don't see any reference to a software license, neither in the script itself, nor in the thread where I got it from. As far as I'm concerned, if there is no disclaimer  and it's posted in a public place, it's public domain. As for support, that, of course, is your prerogative.

That aside, it is my intellectual property and is not public domain.
Just because it's posted here doesn't give you any rights to it.
You are free to use it. You are also expected to be reasonable
and respect the authors wishes.

I don't want to get into a fight about legalities with you. You are one of the pillars of the community and the last thing I want to do is alienate you. For that reason, please take the following as benevolent advice:

To assign a license to software, it's not enough that the terms of the license are available somewhere where the user would have to look it up. Instead, the license needs to bundled with the code in a way that a link is obvious to the average person. As such, I advise you to always release any script in archived form bundled with the license and any other disclaimers you deem necessary, or, quote the terms once in the initial post top of the thread  (a simple link may not be enough according to some countries' jurisdiction).

It is posted here and as I've come to realize it's in the scripter's section, go figure.
It was an agreement we [scripters] had come to and yet it was never posted as
intended. Rather it may have been lost one of the times this forum was in peril
Thus I stand corrected on this point. Still all script tagged by me for PtokaX
is clearly intended for that purpose. I cannot see amending a script with a license
that is longer than the code. So many not only ignore the license but actually
remove it.

At any rate you can read a book online or other works of literature, but that still
doesn't mean you own it.

Very interesting, I've written a few scripts and I wasn't aware the scripts were bound to those rules. Well, lazy people like myself never read the "fine" print. Anyway this reminds me of that PMSpy discussion from years ago, although much much cleaner.

I find that only scripters actually respect the author.
Others just strip the author notes/credits and share it as their own.
Naturally they would do the same with and license information.
You and other scripters have always asked before using my code
in their projects or granting credit to source when modding.
I do appreciate that.

You are quite welcome, although I've never written a "grand" script, I'm still not too sure why people would remove the credits. The scripts are free, opensource and sometimes even supported by the respective author. I can only guess that they want credit for other scripters' work.
